Hello, my name is Melissa!👋 I'm passionate about innovation and being able to solve some of the world's greatest challenges through the power of technology. I am continuously educating myself in many tech-related areas and I am always open for another project to work on. Machine Learning
Currently, I'm an academic part-time computer scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. I'm working under the Electronic Fabrication and Manufacturing Engineering department helping develop softwares that assist in the processes of fabricating electronic components to use in missions! I've worked on several different projects, mostly regarding software and web/app development utilizing Python, SQL, and JavaScript, though I do occasionally work on data reporting and managing shared resources.
In addition to that, I also led a front-end software engineering team for the Northrop Grumman Collaboration Project, a joint project between Cal Poly Pomona and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. The project focused on engineering two autonomous air vehicles and one autonomous land vehicle with the mission purpose of rescuing a lost, injured hiker. I led the team that developed the user interface for the Ground Control Station and did so by using Vue.js and MapBox. I constantly collaborated with the mechanical engineers, aerospace engineers, electrical engineers, and system engineers to ensure that the product we delivered satisfied the project requirements in a productive way. As part of the project we also presented formal design reviews to professionals at Northrop Grumman to ensure that we met our client's expectations.
Lastly, I'm a senior undergraduate student at Cal Poly Pomona studying Computer Science and expecting to graduate Spring 2022. Go Broncos!🐴
